The chair of the California State University Board of Trustees is at risk of losing his seat.  Herbert Carter’s nomination must be approved by a two-thirds supermajority of the State Senate by the end of the month.  But Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff says his caucus members aren’t willing to support Carter’s confirmation:

CSUNOM1A / Huff: “There seems to be a culture of high pay and salaries, and at the same time, high tuition fees for students.  We share the same concerns that the governor does when he put in writing to them that he was concerned about their compensation package and they need to reform it.  We’ve seen nothing that evidences that they have changed that.” (0:20)

The C-S-U Chancellor’s office says the university would be disappointed if the board chair is not confirmed.

The Senate could vote on Carter’s nomination as early as tomorrow (THURSDAY).  It’s also possible Governor Jerry Brown could pull the nomination and submit a different name instead.
